Food for thought: Perception = Reality

We currently see it played out loudly on the world’s stage.

It’s the stories we tell ourselves (or get fed) that end up forming the basis of our perceived reality.

🧠 Fun fact: Our brain cannot differentiate between what we imagine and what is real.

(if you know this - are you actually conscious of it in your own interactions?)

It is only the learned, test-retest, strategies (experiences and lessons learned) we develop as we grow from newborn to adult, that help us filter out perception (or even fantasy) from reality.

Frequently though, these strategies don’t serve us in the longer term, or even hold us back.

⚠️ What this boils down to: Be careful what you think!

Consider:

Choose your thoughts with care.

💭 What stories do you subscribe to?

💭 Where is your current focus? Your ruminations?

💭 Which tone dominates your current self-talk?

A little bit like dogs and small children, our subconscious rarely perceives the “don’t” and just focuses on the message.

So if you “don’t” want to get stressed, or you “don’t” want to stay awake all night, or you “don’t” want to mess up during that important meeting, guess what happens?

♟️ Choose consciously what you believe.

♟️ Choose the tone and language when you converse with yourself.

♟️ Choose where you allow your focus to rest.

Through our self-talk we create our present and our future. So make wise choices.

Share in the comments your experiences of perception vs reality. Let’s start a conversation.
