What if we’ve forgotten how to listen?

Somewhere along the way, many of us learnt to believe that the answers to our struggles, our health, and even our happiness lay in more.
More knowledge.
More optimisation.
More technology.
More productivity.
More qualifications.

I grew up in an environment where ancient wisdom was often dismissed in favour of whatever was newer, shinier, faster, or more “advanced.”
And honestly? I bought into that thinking too.
But lately I’ve been wondering…
What if we keep moving further away from ourselves in the process?
What if the things we are searching for - peace, connection, wellbeing, clarity - are not found in adding more, but in rediscovering what we actually already have?
Our breath.
Our bodies.
Nature.
Stillness.
Presence.
What if some of our most important lessons come from learning how to listen again?
To the quieter voice beneath the noise.
To the sensations we override.
To the inner knowing we were taught to doubt.
Maybe if we slowed down enough, we would hear the messages we wish we had listened to years ago.
And maybe learning to understand ourselves more deeply could help us understand each other differently too.
Perhaps even the world around us that we are privileged enough to call home.
If this resonates, I’d love to hear your thoughts or reflections below. 👇
💭 Footnote thoughts:
Just questioning whether “more” is always better - and whether simplicity still has wisdom to offer us.
